FORCE GAUGES

Digital Force Gauge – Mark-10 Corporation, USA

What Is A Digital Force Gauge

In simple terms, a digital force gauge (also push-pull gauge) is an instrument used to measure tensile or compression forces. They are portable and have a digital display that denotes the force exerted in push-pull tests. For more complex tests which require higher levels of precision, they can be used along with force test stands

Any digital force gauge will consist of the following components: load cell, electronics unit, software, and display. The load cell is the crux of any force measuring instrument. Basically, it is a force transducer that can convert the tensile or compression force to electrical signals, which can in turn be measured.

Mark-10 Digital Force Gauges

Mark-10 Corporation is a distinguished manufacturer of force and torque measuring instruments, including digital push pull gauges, torque meters, bottle cap torque testers. Gaining expertise in the field since 1979, Mark-10 produced its first force gauge in 1990. Ever since, they have constantly developed their product to adapt to the ever-evolving market needs. In addition to being used separately, it can be coupled with appropriate test stands to perform more detailed and sophisticated tests.
Mark-10 push pull gauges have a unique, sleek build with an ergonomic, reversible aluminium housing. Their design and functionalities have resulted in Mark-10’s push pull gauges being preferred in production environments as well as research and quality analysis (QA) laboratories.

Salient Features Of Mark-10 Digital Force Gauges

Sampling Rate

In force gauges, sampling rate is the number of reading samples recorded per second, based on which the force value is displayed. This is expressed in terms of Hertz (Hz). The higher the sampling rate, the more dynamic and accurate the results will be.
Mark-10 force gauges are segregated into different series based on features. All of them have a high sampling rate which ensures that the force being displayed is perfectly in sync with what is being measured. While the Series 2 force gauges have a sampling rate of 500 Hz, the Series 7 variant has an unparalleled sampling rate of 14,000 Hz.

Overload Protection

Instruments in production environments will be subjected to rough use. In the case of a force gauge, there’s always a chance of the force being measured being much more the maximum capacity of the gauge. In such a scenario, the load cell in most force gauges will be damaged, leading to malfunction.
To avoid such a situation, Mark-10 force gauges are equipped with the ability to withstand up to 200% of their maximum capacity. Though the instrument will not be able to provide force values over its limit, it will not be damaged when a higher load is applied. The durability is one of the main reasons why Mark-10 products are much preferred in industrial production environments.

Data Acquisition Software

For most applications, the role of a push pull gauge does not end with just denoting the value. Especially in R&D and QC laboratories, there will be a need to tabulate the values and analyse them further. In such cases, having apush pull gauge with built-in memory and support for data transfer will save a lot of cumbersome work.

All Mark-10 force gauges, except the Series 2 models, support and come packaged with Mark-10’s proprietary MESUR™ Lite data acquisition software. Users can effortlessly tabulate continuous and single-point data. Once the values have been collected, they can also be exported to an Excel spreadsheet with just the click of a button in the software.

If users find the need for reporting, tabulation of load vs. time or load vs. travel, and other added analysis functionalities, they can go for MESUR™gauge or MESUR™gauge Plus software. Mark-10 offers the option of downloading MESUR™gauge or MESUR™gauge Plus and using them for a trial period of 90 days.

Warranty

All Mark-10 digital force gauges come with a 3-year international warranty. This is much more than the warranty period provided by any of the other major manufacturers. This is a testament to the longevity of Mark-10 force gauges.
